Jai Balkissoon, MD has served as Vice President of Clinical Development since 2010. He joined Oxigene in 2008 as Senior Medical Director. From 2005 to 2008, he was Assistant Medical Director at Genentech working on the Avastin development program in breast cancer and melanoma. He also served as an immunotherapy consultant at Chiron Corporation working on their melanoma program. He has been in clinical practice and Director of the Bay Area Tumor Institute Melanoma Center since 1992. He is a member of the San Francisco Surgical Society, Society of Surgical Oncology, American Society of Clinical Oncology, European Thyroid Association, Past President of the East Bay Surgical Society, Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and founding member of the International Sentinel Node Society, He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Howard University College of Medicine, completed General Surgery at Howard University Hospitals, and completed a Fellowship in Surgical Oncology at the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health in Bethesda Maryland.
